Rustic Thoughts by Egypt Rain Mountain

Goodbye Google Analytics & engagement anxiety. Saying yes to creative peace online.

It's nice to look back at my writing history and see all the cosy nooks I've poured my creative energy into. I was writing a note on my Thoughts Page earlier today. Looking back at the history of his page, which I only started a few weeks back, I felt creative pride.

I might only have been writing on it for a short while, but it's something I'm sticking to. My page has no metrics or way for me to know if anyone is reading it. Yet I persist. There is something freeing in not being emotionally tethered to the iron grasp of the algorithm, or Google Analytics, and such.

I enjoy threading my quiet path online, where I'm free to simply express and leave my discoverability in the hands of serendipity. Even though I appreciate when people sign my guestbook or leave me a note/email to show they have received my words.

Yet, a reason I stay far from social media is because I don't want the havoc on my nervous system of ever being constantly engaged in and anxious about likes, hearts, comments, metrics and such.

There is a calmness in being far from all the noise and writing in peace and calm instead.
