Rustic Thoughts by Egypt Rain Mountain

The Indieweb is too developer-centric and techy. And why I'm writing my 'Rustic Thoughts' here

Thoughts on the Indieverse, small web, cosy web or whatever else it's called. Although beautiful in principle, I'm finding a lot of instructions and design principles that are overly technical for the non-developer or not-tech-inclined person.

I prefer simplicity and really want to create an online space that allows my words to breathe. Not every thought or idea has to end up as a full-blown essay. This is what attracted me to using Mataroa for my 'Rustic Thoughts'. I've added this as a branch/seed in my digital garden. I want a space that is less performative than a blog.

So I'll share thoughts that are raw, unpolished, and unrefined. Simple musings that pop into my head. Because writing is thinking, and the more I write, the more I gain clarity on things.

As I grow older, I want to keep everything in my life simple, without too many frills, bells and whistles. This is the space I intend to do some of that. I already write and share creative works on My digital garden.

I have what is likened to a conventional blog posts section there – although I dislike the word blog. In this space I'll keep my thoughts more fluid, open-ended, and unrefined.

Rustic? Yes, I like that word.
